About

Formerly the global Sustainable Destinations Manager at the Thomas Cook Group, Jo holds a Masters Degree in Responsible Tourism Management and has worked extensively with hotels and accommodation providers to implement health, safety, quality and sustainability standards since 2001.

She founded Travel Without Plastic in 2017 in response to an increasing demand by hotels for support in finding and implementing alternatives to single-use plastic that were practical, affordable, user friendly and that wouldn’t compromise tour operator or guest expectations.

Working with industry specialists she created the ‘Let’s Reduce Single-Use Toolkit’ specifically written with hotels and accommodation businesses in mind.  Launched on World Environment Day this year the Toolkit is currently being implemented in a variety of European destinations and links with strategic partners in the USA, Australia, Africa and Indonesia will see it making an impact globally.

Jo’s personal goal is to see the Toolkit prevent one billion pieces of single-use plastic from entering waste streams or natural environments by 2020.
