Barrie Kelly joined Visit Greenwich in January 2014 having previously worked at Marketing Cheshire as Director of Client Services working on inward investment and tourism agendas.  Prior to that he worked at economic development body, St. Helens Chamber as Marketing & Development Director, helping them to be recognised nationally as Chamber of the Year in 2010. Previous to that he worked at Visit Chester & Cheshire as Commercial Director and Director of Operations over a four-year period. Earlier in his career he worked at The Mersey Partnership for 6 years as Head of Marketing & Commercial Development leading on both inward investment and tourism. Previous to this he worked at the Government agency, the Data Protection Office as Communications Director.

Barrie graduated from the University of Manchester in 1990 with a II:I BA (Hons) degree in Economics, in 1997 gained a CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the University of Salford and was made a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2009. He has undertaken high level training on leadership and management at both the Henley Business School of Business and Windsor Leadership Trust.

An experienced leader and strategic marketer, Barrie began his career in advertising at Stowe Bowden Wilson (part of the McCann-Erickson group), a then leading advertising & marketing agency in Manchester. Throughout his career he has had an outstanding track record of success in both private and public sectors.  This has been recognised within the industry with a number of prominent awards including the recent UK Inbound DMO of the year 2017, a CIM SWOT Award for brand repositioning and an IPA commendation for advertising effectiveness.
